The General Manager of a footwear factory arrested on charges of raping a female colleague in Gazipur.
Police arrested Nazmul Hossain AKA Pavel, 36, after the rape survivor filed a case with Joydebpur police station on Tuesday morning.
The accused, Pavel, hailing from Tangail district, lives in a rented house in Bhawal Mirzapur area. He is employed at Glory Footwear Limited’s factory situated at Pirajali Kacharipara area of Sadar upazila.
Joydebpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mamun Al Rashid said Pavel called the female colleague to his rented house
on different days and times by promising her to increase her salary and promotion.
Later, Pavel raped the woman more than once by threatening and intimidating her. The last time Pavel raped her was on January 10, and he forbade her to tell anyone about this, said police.
The rape survivor told the police that the GM is still threatening her in various ways. She said she took time filing the case because she wanted to do so only after consulting with relatives and local influentials of the area. The court sent Pavel to jail on Tuesday afternoon.
