A man of Chaltatali in Chittagong’s Bayezid area was arrested on Saturday for allegedly attempting to murder his father.
On Tuesday, the arrestee allegedly demanded Tk 50 lakh from his father and forced him to transfer family properties in his name; being refused, he beat the father and tried to strangulate him, said family members. After a case was filed, police arrested the accused, said, Bayezid police.
Earlier, the father also filed a general diary against the son for torturing him, police said, adding that the arreteee was also an accused in an earlier FIR regarding ward councilor Liakat Ali murder in 1999, and there were also allegations of land grabbing and extortion against him.
