Captain of Bangladesh National Football team Mamunul Islam Mamun took part in a campaign named “Rise of Football” at school level in the capital to inspire the school boys and girls ahead of the FIFA World Cup/Asia Cup Qualifiers between Australia and Bangladesh.
Asian minnow Bangladesh will play the Asian champions and four times world cup playing Australia for the first time in their home match on Tuesday (Nov 17) at 5:30 pm at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. Bangladesh conceded a 0-5 goals defeat to Australia in their first appearance in Perth.
The Australian Football team will arrive in Dhaka on Monday at 6 pm after staying two days in Singapore and will leave the capital on Tuesday night after playing the match.
Earlier, the Socceroos were due here on Saturday (Nov 14).
During the campaign, Mamunul inspired the new generation and school students in football and perused them to support the national football team appearing at the stadium.
Mamunul visited Scholastica School in Mirpur in the morning and went to the field alongside schoolboys with football. After playing football, a cross bar challenge competition was arranged for schoolboys and five students earned the Bangladesh-Australia match ticket after winning the challenge.
Later, Mamun went to Shaheed Anwar Girls College and asked the girls to compete in penalty shootout contest. Eight girls won the Bangladesh-Australia match tickets after winning the contest.
