Captain of Bangladesh National Football team Mamunul Islam signed with Atletico de Kolkata at the Uttara Club on Saturday.
Mamunul will play for Atletico de Kolkata in the Indian Super League (ISL). After the Asian Games, Mamunul will go to Kolkata and will stay there for three months to play in the ISL.
Paresident of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Manjur Kader was present at the signing ceremony.
Earlier, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club have given permission to Mamunul Islam to play for Sourav Ganguly’s club. Mamunul Islam did not disclose how match he is getting to play for Atletico de Kolkata.
Indian actors and cricketers are the owners and icons of those clubs, which will play in the Indian Super League. A total of eight teams will take part in the gala football meet. The football competition starts on October 12 and will come to an end on December 22.
After the agreement, Mamunul Islam said, “I will get experience from the European and the other countries. For the first time I am going to play for a foreign club. It is really a honour for me. I shall try to learn every moment. I shall try to play in the final XI.”
Former Spanish Valencia Coach Anthony Lopez is the Head Coach of Atletico de Kolkata while Brazilian Hose Bareto will act as Assistant Coach.
