Malrauxe Garden established on DU campus

Dhaka University and Alliance Française have jointly set up “Malrauxe Garden” in the university maul area near the Faculty of Business Studies of Dhaka University. Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq formally inaugurated the garden on Saturday.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, French Ambassador to Bangladesh Michel Trinquiier, Philosopher, Essayist and Human Rights Activist Bernard Henry Levy, Director, Alliance Française of Dhaka Olivier Ltvine and other delegates from French Embassy, teachers and students of DU attended the opening ceremony. Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Mozammel Huq expressed sincere thanks and gratitude to Andre Marauxe, a French philosopher, humanist and intellectual, who supported liberation war of Bangladesh and inspired freedom fighters through his various activities in 1971.
The minister also acknowledged the great contribution of this foreign friend for helping Bangladesh in rebuilding it after the independence.
Later, a documentary on Andre Malrauxe namely “Bangladesh Year One:
From Despair to Hope” was screened at the DU Senate Bhaban to show his contribution during and after the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
