FM Mohammad Abdul Malek of Titas Club finished 26th position in the Kathmandu Open International GM Chess Tournament which concluded on Tuesday at Park Village Hotel at Budhanilkantha in Kathmandu, Nepal.
FM Malek earned 6 points out of 9 games. In the 9th or last round games were today morning, FM Malek won against Tamang Thendup of India.
Earlier on Monday in 8th or penultimate round game FM Malek beat Sayantan Chandra of India.
IM Harsha Bharathakoti of India emerged champion with 7.5 points. GM Mirzoev Azer of Azerbaijan became runner-up and Tarlev Konstantin of Ukraine finished 3rd with 7 points respectively.
A total of 173 players from 12 countries including 9 grand masters, 9 International Masters and 6 FIDE Masters participated in the event.
