Some three years have elapsed since Maldives’ airline, Maldivian, started operating air services to and from Dhaka since November 2012. Initially it operated three flights a week on Male-Chennai-Dhaka and vice-versa. From February this year the airline has increased its air services on this route to four per week.
Maldivian uses Airbus-320 of 152-seat configuration (14 Business Class and 138 Economy Class) and on Sundays it uses Airbus-321 of 200-seat configuration (six Business Class and 194 Economy Class).
“At the moment, we operate air services to and from Dhaka with 70 per cent load factor,” said Tofayel Ahmed, Senior Sales Manager of Maldivian’s GSA Air Galaxy Limited while talking to this correspondent in the morning on September 12 (Saturday).
At the moment Maldivian operates air service on nine international and 10 domestic routes with various sizes of aircraft in its fleet, Tofayel added.
