Malaysian reliefs for Rohingyas handed over at Ctg Port

The Malaysian relief goods meant for Rohingya refugees sheltered in Bangladesh handed over to the local administration of Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar district formally at CCT yard of the Chittagong Port on Tuesday evening. Malaysian legislator Abdul Aziz Bin Abdur Rahim , Malaysian Ambassador in Bangaldesh Noor Ashekin Binte Md Tayeb, foreign secretary(maritime unit) of Bangaldesh Rear Admiral Md. Khurshid Alam. Acting Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong Sarowar Jahan, DC of Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar and the representatives of Red Crescent Society were present on the occasion. Port sources said Malaysian ship Nautical Aleya arrives Chittagong port on Tuesday at about 11 am . After arrival of the ship, Port Chairman Commodore Zulfikar Azia, Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong, Customs Commissioner, Deputy Magistrate of Chittagong and Cox’sBazar board the ship for formal receiving of the ship in Bangaldesh.
The ship is carrying 1,472 metric tonnes of relief goods including rice, sugar and tea leaves.
The Cox’s Bazar administration sources said 150 trucks have been hired to transport the aid from Chittagong to Cox’s Bazar The aid ship faced protests when it arrived in Yangon on Feb 9 with aid for Rohingya Muslims .
The ship dropped off 500 tonnes of food, medicine and other supplies before it set sail for Chittagong.
The aid ship was gathered with the help of several of Malaysia’s national, international and Muslim aid organisations.
