A total of 99 workers will leave capital Dhaka for Kuala Lumpur today (Friday) as Malaysian labour market reopens for Bangladeshi workers after eight years.
They are scheduled to depart Dhaka by a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines under government to government plus (G2G plus) system.
The government hopes to continue the process of sending manpower to the country. However, a syndicate is trying to stop the labour market, it is alleged.
“The first flight of Bangladeshi workers will leave Dhaka on Friday. And the process will continue. There are huge demand for Bangladeshi workers as they are trustworthy, hard working and honest to the foreign employers,” Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam BSc said.
He came up with the remarks when the leaders of the Journalists Forum on Migration (JFM) on Wednesday called on him at his residence in the city on Wednesday.
He said, “We are grateful to the Malaysian government as the country has chosen Bangladesh as a source country of migrant workers.”
Nurul Islam said that a total 102 workers would be sent to Malaysia in the first phase.
However, an official of Bangladesh International Recruiting Agencies said they have booked 99 seats in BG-086 flight.
“As some of the selected workers have not completed their whole process yet, they will be sent later. We have booked seats for 99 workers in the first flight,” said an official of BAIRA preferring not to be named.
According to sources said, a syndicate has become active in Bangladesh and Malaysia in order to stop the labour market.
The stakeholders and experts said it is the government’s responsibility to foil the conspiracy hatched at home and abroad.
The Malaysian government had stopped recruiting Bangladeshi workers in March 10 in 2009.
Since 2007 to 2009 a total of eight lakhs of Bangladeshi workers have gone to Malaysia, but most of them failed to get a job there.
The Malaysian government signed deals to recruit Bangladeshi workers again through online system.
