Acting High Commissioner of Malaysia in Bangladesh Mr. Amir Farid Abu Hasan called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman at latter’s office of the university yesterday , says a press release. He was accompanied by former Professor of Malaysia Sarawak University Dr. Zin Zawawi Zakaria.  
During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interest. They exchanged views regarding the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes on palm oil, rubber, water, soil management, environment and other arenas among DU and Malaysian universities. DU VC Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman apprised the High Commissioner of the history, academic and research programs of Dhaka University in brief. He said, an excellent friendly relation has been prevailing between Bangladesh and Malaysia for long time.
Malaysian Acting High Commissioner said, his country is interested to work together with Bangladesh in various sectors including education.
He informed DU VC that Malaysian Prime Minister is expected to pay a visit to Bangladesh in early next year to attend a gala program marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He sought a program for Malaysian Prime Minister at Dhaka University during his Bangladesh visit. In this regard DU VC assured Malaysian Acting High Commissioner of chalking out a program for Malaysian Prime Minister through discussion with concerned authorities and said, we will be happy to receive Malaysian Prime Minister at Dhaka University.
