UNB, Dhaka :
BNP said the visiting Malaysian parliamentary delegation told a meeting with BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday that their country wants to see a peaceful transfer of power in Bangladesh through an inclusive and acceptable election.
“We’d very lively discussions in a cordial atmosphere. They (Malaysian team) told us that their country wants an inclusive and credible election to be held in Bangladesh. They repeatedly said they’re waiting to see a peaceful transfer of power through
a fair election,” said BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after two Malaysian ruling party MPs and its deputy leader of the opposition in parliament met Khaleda at her Gulshan office.
Fakhrul said democracy is now practised in Malaysia after passing through many odds and obstacles. “They hope democracy will also get a good shape here.” Apart from Fakhrul, BNP standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and chairperson’s adviser Sabihuddin Ahmed were present at the meeting. The Malaysian parliamentary delegation arrived here recently to join the 63rd conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA).
Earlier on Monday, a Canadian parliamentary delegation, also met Khaleda at the same venue.
