Malaysia has suspended temporarily receiving of applications for recruiting migrant workers for reviewing its law.
The Ministry of Human Resources of Malaysia announced this through a circular issued on Friday.
In the circular, the ministry said that application for recruiting migrant workers to Malaysia will remain closed from August 15 to 31.
It further stated that the recruitment of foreign workers will be reviewed following the Employment (Amendment) Act-2022 and then, the recruitment application will be received from September 1.
The new procedure for application of workers will be announced soon, the notification mentioned.
However, applications submitted by August 14 will be completed before August 31, it said.
The Employment (Amendment) Act 2022 was passed by the Malaysian Parliament last March. The new law has increased maternity leave from 60 days to 98 days.
Besides, restrictions are imposed on the dismissal of pregnant women.
