The Bangladesh Under-14 football team start their Super Mokh Cup campaign on losing note as they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hand of host Malaysia Cougars on Monday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Bangladesh found the host hard nut to crack as the first half ended in a goalless.
In the 17th minute Bangladesh got a chance to surge ahead when Miraj Molla failed to score after getting a ball in a very advantageous position.
However Bangladesh was lucky not to concede a goal in the first half 35th minutes when Zeehan conceded a penalty when he handled the ball in the danger zone. But lady luck was not smiling for the visitors as the ball hit the side bar returned to play.
Malaysia continued to press hard and their perseverance paid off when in the 70 th minute they earned a free kick just outside the box. This they did not make any mistake as they slotted home with beautiful kick taken by Mohammad Aaliash Bin Alaan (1-0).
Bangladesh’s goalkeeper Emon Halder was brilliant under the bar as he thwarted at least seven or eight clear chances. Bangladesh forwards got two or three goal scoring chances in the match which they failed to utilized it. Bangladesh will play their next match tomorrow (Tuesday) against Myanmar at the same venue.
Earlier, on Sunday morning the Bangladesh team reached safely and has been accommodated at Furama Bukit Bintang hotel according to a message received from Bangladesh Football Federation this evening. The other teams in their group C are Myanmar and Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale.
