BSS :
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Thursday said making falsehood regularly has turned into BNP’s habit.
He said this at a press conference on contemporary issues at his official residence here.
Mentioning that BNP’s allegations against the government are imaginary, Quader said raising new allegations against the government every day has become BNP’s daily routine.
Noting that the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina doesn’t believe in repression and torture, the minister questioned why the government would lodge purpose-oriented cases?
The government has no interference or pressure in the country’s court matters, he said.
Pointing to BNP leaders, the AL general secretary said if law enforcement agencies arrest anyone of BNP at the order of the court, BNP blames the government.
Major offenders cannot be brought under justice, what type of demand that is, he questioned. In that case, does BNP want there will be no judiciary and law in the country, he again questioned.
Quader said BNP is taking stance in favour of offenders indiscriminately.
BNP is giving statement demanding release of those who were arrested along with arms, he said, adding that BNP is making ill efforts to make natural judicial process as questionable.
The AL general secretary said the government’s stance is clear that it doesn’t believe in political repression.
About BNP leaders’ comment that the behavior of the government reveals the country is not an independent one rather an ill-governed state (moger mulluk), Quader said when BNP carried out arson terrorism and burned innocent people to death, gutted vehicles and land office by setting fire on those using gunpowder, created anarchy in the name of political programme, wasn’t it seemed an anarchical place (moger mulluk) at that period.
During the BNP’ government tenure, BNP itself had turned the country into a land of terrorists by killing 21,000 leaders and workers of AL.
Does it go with a political of an independent nation that it would make complaints to foreigners frequently, he questioned.
He said BNP had itself turned the country into an anarchical state (moger mulluk) while the AL government is making its allout strides to establish peace and stability in the country after retrieving it from the worst condition.
Quader said BNP had started their evil attempts to pollute the country’s politics with an orchestrated plan to make the country’s politics difficult to the politician.
BNP had initiated the practice of opportunism and intrusion for gaining their evil political interests, he said.
The AL general secretary said who would respect those who doesn’t perform pro-people politics and cannot protect their own respect?
He said the people have no trust and confidence in BNP and that is why the party now wants to enforce opportunism to grasp state power in the name of politics.
He said Awami League has very strong footing in this soil as it was established from grassroots and so, it knows how to respect leaders.
