The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Shipping Ministry on Tuesday recommended that the New Mooring Container Terminal at Chittagong Port be made operational as soon as possible.
The parliamentary body at its 14th meeting held at Jatiya Sangshad Bhaban asked the ministry to procure necessary equipment for the Chittagong Port directly from the equipment-producing companies.
Chaired by committee chairman Major (retd) Rafiqul Islam, the meeting was attended, among others, by Shipping Minister M Shajahan Khan, and standing committee members M abdul Hai, Abdul Latif Ranajit Kumar Biswas, Anwarul Azim and Adv Momtaz Begum.
