Make family planning services easily accessible: President

President Abdul Hamid on Monday urged all concerned to make family planning services easily accessible to the people for controlling the population growth and creating more employment and reducing poverty.
“There exists a positive relationship between poverty and population growth rate. So, the population growth rate should be controlled through family planning to increase the education and employment rate, and reduce the poverty in the country,,” the president made this observation in a message on the eve of the World Population Day 2017.
He said family planning services should be available to the all able couple across the country to help them build a planned family. Terming, planning and planned family is a prerequisite for a country’s development, the president said, “Small family plays a vital role in building a happy and prosperous country”.
Perceiving the importance of family planning, the government has been implementing different programmes to control the population growth, the president said innovative programmes are ongoing to achieve the target of becoming middle-income country by 2021.
He also urged the non-government organizations, persons and institutions to come forward sincerely in this regard.
Terming this year’s theme of the day “Family Planning, Empowering People, Developing Nations” as very time-befitting, the president wished success of the programme of the day.
