Imprisoned former adviser of the caretaker government Barrister Mainul Hosein was taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Tuesday for a medical check-up in line with a High Court directive.
A five-member medical board, led by Prof ABM Abdullah, Chairman of Internal Medicine of the hospital, examined Barrister Mainul’s health condition. The board also suggested his several medical tests at the hospital, Brig. Gen Md. Abdullah-Al-Harun, Director of BSMMU, told The New Nation.
“All the tests have been done yesterday. We will get the reports of the medical test tomorrow. The report will be placed before the Court by the stipulated time,” he added. “Mainul Hosein was taken to BSMMU at around 11.00am for health-check up. After nearly two and half hours of health check-up, he was taken back to the Dhaka Central Jail again,” jailer Mahbub Islam told The New Nation.
He was brought back to jail again at around 3.00pm.”
The Jailer said that reports of his (Mainul Hosein) medical tests would be sent to the Court by December 6 as per the Court directive.
Earlier, the High Court directed the jail authorities to produce Barrister Mainul before a medical board at BSMMU for his health check-up.
The court also asked the authorities to submit the reports before it by December 6.
The High Court bench of Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir passed the order after hearing a petition filed by Mainul’s wife Saju Hosein seeking necessary order on the authorities in this regard.
