Maintaining sound health of lactating mothers emphasized

Experts at a health camp have stressed maintaining sound health of the lactating mothers for ensuring normal physical and mental growth of their babies to build a healthier nation. They came up with the observation at a function of the health camp jointly organised by Birampur Upazila Administration and Upazila Women Affairs officer’s office recently at Birampur Upazila Parishad auditorium in Dinajpur. The event was arranged with assistance of the ‘Working Lactating Mother Assistance Fund’ of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs through the Directorate of Women Affairs aiming to provide free healthcare services to the working lactating mothers.
More than 400 working mothers of Birampur municipality area were provided free healthcare services in the daylong health camp. Chaired by Birampur Upazila Women Affairs’ Officer Fahmida Yasmin, the event was addressed, among others.

Fahmida Yasmin discussed various programmes being implemented by the present government, led by Prime Minsiter Sheikh Hasina, for ensuring healthcare to the poor and working lactating mothers living both in urban as well as rural areas.
Dr Sirajul Islam called upon the working lactating mothers to feed their babies breast milk for six months and continue it till two years age along with complementary foods to prevent child deaths.
