Maintaining existing tariff in next budget for steel industry demanded

Leaders of the Bangladesh Steel Manufacturers’ Association today demanded for maintaining the existing maximum tariff of Taka 900 in the next national budget for the production and sale of steel products, including rods.
The association made the demand while meeting with Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun at the Industries Ministry in the city.
Humayun said the government is providing all sorts of support to protect the interest of the country’s steel sector as it is playing a vital role to develop infrastructure. He asked the owners of the steel industries to produce rod and steel by maintaining quality.
Among others, chairman of the association Monowar Hossain, former chairman Sheikh Masudul Alam Masud and Secretary General M Shahidullah were present.
