Kishoreganj District Administration organised a colourful rally, discussion and cultural function as the Bangladesh has upgraded as developing country on Thursday.
A discussion meeting was held at local Art Council Hall Thursday.
Dilara Begum Asma M.P attended as Chief Guest while Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury presided over .
It was addressed among others by Zila Parished Chairman Advocate Md. Zillur Rahman, as special guest, Civil Surgeon Dr Habibur Rahman, District Awami League General Secretary Advocate M.A. Afzol, Poura Mayor Md. Parvez Mia, Additional Police Super Nazmul Islam, Govt. Gurudayal College Vice-Principle Proffessor Nazrul Islam Mojumder, ADC (General & DS) Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil, ADC (Education & ICT) & DS Golam Mohammad Bhuiyan, Former Freedom Fighter Unit Commonder Md. Asad Ullah, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Sadar UNO Abdullah al-Masud and NDC Shamima Yesmin.
Later, a colourful rally was brought out in the town led by Dilara Begum Asma MP and DC Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: A cross-section of people here yesterday celebrated the historic achievement of the present government in making Bangladesh eligible for graduating from the group of Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
To mark the celebration, Deputy Commissioner’s office arranged a jubilant procession from Alupatty crossing in the morning.
Professional group leaders, officers and staff from various government, semi-government, autonomous and NGO offices and educational institutions joined the rally.
After parading some city streets, the rally converged into a discussion on Rajshahi College premises.
City unit president of Bangladesh Awami League AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Akhter Jahan, MP, commissioner of Rajshahi division Nur-Ur-Rahman, commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Mahbubor Rahman, Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police Mashudur Rahman Bhuiyan and Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi SM Abdul Kader addressed the meeting.
Khairuzzaman Liton said the country attained the historic eligibility under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and urged all quarters to strengthen her hands so that she can continue the development process in the years to come.
Meanwhile, all the public offices launched a service-week to deliver quality services to the public in general here to mark the celebration.
