Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Friday morning arrested a young man from Boyra village in Khaliajuri upazila of Netrakona district in case filed for raping a minor girl.
The arrestee was identified as Tutul, 21, son of Taj Miah of Sutarpara village in Mithamain upazila of Kishoreganj district.
Tipped off that Tutul was hiding at his relative’s house at Boyra village, a Rab team, led by company commander of Rab-14 of Kishoreganj assistant superintendent of police M Hasan, conducted a drive there around 7:30 am and arrested Tutul.
The father of the victim, aged two and half years, filed the case with Mithamain Police Station on August 11, said the officer-in-charge of the police station.
According to the case statement, Tutul took the minor girl to an isolated place in Bara Bam Haor area on August 10 alluring her to give chocolate.
Later, he raped the girl there and fled the scene, leaving the victim injured severely.
The victim’s father with the help of locals rescued the girl nearly three hours after the incident and sent her to a local hospital.
Later, the minor girl was shifted to Kishoreganj Modern Hospital as her condition deteriorated.
