Hira Aktar (11), a madrasa student and daughter of one Gaus Shaikh of village Paschim Baharbunia under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district was strangulated to death after she was gang raped in her own house by some unidentified miscreants on July 02 afternoon.
At the time of their departure the miscreants made her naked and hanged the dead body with a beam of the house. After this brutal and inhuman incident more than one week was already passed but the main culprits were not arrested till the writing of this report. Police are claiming that they were trying their best to arrest the main culprits.
On the other hand, a number of social and woman organizations formed human chains in front of Bagerhat Press Club on several occasions condemning this brutal and inhuman incident and demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits and their exemplary punishment. A representative team of Bagerhat District Unit of of Aain-0-Salish Kendra visited Paschim Baharbunia village, the place of occurrence under Morrelganj Upazila by this time in order to investigate into the matter and collect the related information.
On the other hand, teachers and students of Safrakhali-Gazirhat Dkhil Madras (where Hira Aktar was a student) decided to form a human chain on July 8 to protest the brutal murder of Hira who was gang raped and killed by the miscreants and demand their immediate arrest and exemplary punishment. But in the face of threats from unidentified quarters the programme was postponed.
Sirajul Islam, Additional Police Super of Bagerhat (Morrelganj and Sharankhola Range) told the newsmen, Madrasa student Hira Aktar was brutally killed after she was gang raped by the miscreants who later made her naked and hanged the dead body with a beam of her house in a pre-planned way. The Additional Police Super added, after it was being guessed on primary basis 3 youths were arrested after three days of the incident suspecting their involvement in the affair.
