Mahmudullah Riyad has continued his practice session at the BCB-NCA Ground in the city’s Mirpur. Riyad, who is the Captain of Bangladesh T20I Cricket team is engaged in solo training for the upcoming New Zealand tour. His teammates Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal are playing Test matches against West Indies team at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in the city’s Mirpur. BCB-NCA Ground is adjacent to the SBNCS.
Riyad batted at the net with a help of a thrower on Thursday. Besides, He was engaged at the gymnasium.
Mahmudullah failed to score any half centuries in the recently concluded four Test matches. He had just a score of 39 (not out) against India, in Kolkata. Thus he was dropped from the Test squad of Bangladesh.
Earlier, Head Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team Russell Domingo said to the reporters, ” He was dropped from the Test squad but he has to try hard to be included again in the squad. During the coronavirus pandemic he worked hard by taking part at the practice sessions and decreased five to six kilograms from his weight. He has been training well and also has been working hard to return to the squad. He was not permanently dropped from the squad.”
Riyad said, ” I am not sure that I can return to the Test squad. I shall try hard to regain my place in the Test squad. I think I have to perform well in the upcoming series.”
