Mahindra Comviva, the global leaders in providing mobility solutions on Thursday signed a sponsorship agreement with FIDE Chess Master, Mohammad Fahad Rahman, Bangladesh’s most promising chess player.
He will be mentored by Niaz Murshed, the first Grandmaster of chess in South Asia. This alliance is aimed at promoting chess in Bangladesh.
The announcement was made at a press conference here on Thursday. The company will not only provide a monthly stipend to the child prodigy, FIDE master Fahad, but also bear all his expenses for participating at the upcoming international chess tournaments, for a period of one year, said a press release.
Mahindra Comviva will also provide support to Niaz Murshed, Bangladesh’s first chess icon, to train Fahad on all the theoretical aspects, as well as the tips and tricks of chess, needed to fast-track his rise to the next Grandmaster.
Speaking as the chief guest at the programme, the State Minister for Youth and Sports, Sri Biren Sikder, MP said: “We already have five international chess Grandmasters in the country. If we can provide proper support and training to child prodigies like Fahad, Bangladesh will be able to produce more international Grandmasters.”
