Mahfuza finishes 35th in 100m breaststroke

Bangladeshi swimmer Mahfuza Khatun finished 35th among the 38 competitors in the women’s 100-meter breaststroke swimming in the 20th Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland on Sunday.
Sophie Taylor of England topped the list in the qualification round to reach the semifinal with a timing of 1:07.77.
Mahfuza competed in heat number one and was placed 3rd among six participants clocking 1:22.62. Lianna Swan of Pakistan took the top slot in the heat with a timing of 1:20.39 and O Cherebin of Grenada was placed 2nd clocking 1:21.29. But, no body qualified for the semifinal from heat number one.
Earlier, in the women’s 50 meter breaststroke, Mahfuza Akhter was finished 26th among 25 swimmers and was eliminated from the race.
Another Bangladesh swimmer Mahfizur Rahman finished 28th among the 66 participants in the men’s 100 meter freestyle swimming clocking 52.97 seconds on Saturday to exit from the race.
