Former Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder is ill. His physical condition is so serious that he is not fit to be taken abroad. Because of this, even though he has a ticket to Chennai on Saturday (16 July), he is unable to go.
Mahbub Talukder’s Personal Assistant (PS) Muhammad Enam Uddin confirmed this information to the media on Thursday.
He said that Mahbub Talukder has been undergoing treatment in a hospital in Dhaka since July 1, affected by various diseases. Due to his illness, daughter Afrin Mahbub from USA and son Shobhan Mahbub from Canada came to Dhaka. His wife Nilufar Begum and elder daughter Irene Mahbub are with him.
PS Enam Uddin said, efforts are underway to take Mahbub Talukdar to Chennai in the neighboring country of India by air ambulance. On February 15, 2017, Mahbub Talukdar was appointed by the President Abdul Hamid as a member of the five-member Bangladesh Election Commission headed by KM Nurul Huda.
