a personal friend of mine. I missed his demise and deeply sad for his absence. We’re friends since our student life at Nawabpur School. I remember our experience as scouts and we under my leadership won the recognition as the best troop in the former East Pakistan. He (Mahbub Talukdar) was associated with the Ittefaq. As election commissioner he saw me on few occasions defying his knowledge that he was under watch to express his frustration about the farcical election. He came to me for the conflict of conscience he was suffering within. He was one of the speech writers of Bangabandhu and he prepared his last speech to be delivered at the Dhaka University but remained undelivered. Mahbub was talented and wanted to be remembered for his love of the country.”
