Mahbub of Palolic Group clinched the men’s singles title of the Shamsuzzaman Limited Federation Cup Table Tennis Tournament beating his rivals on league basis matches on the 4th and final day at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in Paltan Maidan on Saturday.
Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation president and former principal secretray to the Prime Minister Office M Abdul Karim was the chief guest at the day’s closing function while general secretray of Bangladesh Women’s Sports Association Quamrunahar Dana was the special guest.
Mahbub beat Parag (Mariners) by 3-1 games; defeated Tuhin (Palolic) by 3-0 games and beat Hridoy (Arunima) by 3-0 games to the champions while Parag (Mariner) finished runner-up beating Hridoy (Arunima) by 3-2 games and defeated Tuhin (Palolic) by 3-1 games.
Earlier, Moumita Alam Rumi of Abahani Limited clinched the women’s singles while Rahima Akhter of same club became runners-up.
Abahani Limited clinched the women’s team event title while Dhaka DSA became runners-up. Palolic Group emeregd champions in the men’s team event while Dhaka Mariner Youngs Club finished runners-up.
Some 100 paddlers from 14 teams took part in the four-day meet in the team event, women’s team, men’s singles and women’s singles events of the meet.
