Mahbub asks local administrations to prepare for post-Covid tourism

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Mahbub Ali on Saturday asked the local administrations to take necessary preparations so that the tourists can get a safe and hygienic environment at their tourist destinations in the post-Covid pandemic period.
“Tourist crowds will increase just after the pandemic. .. we have to take all preparations to offer them proper facilities and atmosphere at our tourist spots,” he said.
He made the call while addressing a virtual workshop organized by Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB ) with Natore district with the aim of involving tourism in local development plans and creating public awareness about tourism. The state minister urged the local administration to keep tourism in mind while taking up any development project at the local level.
“Development, conservation, construction and renovation of tourist destinations should be done on priority basis,” he said.
The state minister said the local administrations must work sincerely to preserve all the tourist attractions, including historical and archeological sites as well as memorial places related to the Great Liberation War across the country. Local MPs professor Abdul Kuddus Safikul Islam Shimul, Shahidul Islam Bokul, Ratna Ahmed and BTB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jabed Ahmed and Deputy Commissioner of Natore Md. Shahriaz also spoke at the workshop, among others.
