Standing Committee member of the opposition BNP and former minister Amir Khashru Mahamud Chowdhury said, “Awami League destroyed the democracy by telling the words of development.”
While addressing the unveiling ceremony of the cover of Mahafuj Ullah’s book on Ziaur Rahman at Nasimon Bhabon as the chief guest, BNP leader Amir Khashru Mahamud Chowdhury said, “The unrest is prevailing in the country now. The economy of Bangladesh is being ill again.
The people of the country have lost their right to franchise during the present tenure of Awami League. Without democracy, development can not be done. But, the incumbent government is trying to occupy the power for long time by killing the democracy.”
Addressing the function, writer Mahafuj Ullah said, ‘The people of the country are passing their days in insecure environment now. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Ziaur Rahman were the different personalities. Never compare them with each other. Ziaur Rahman was the dreamer of nationalism in Bangladesh.
He also introduced multi-party democracy in Bangladesh.” The function was presided over by president of Chittagong City Committee of BNP Dr Shahadat Hossain. General Secretary Chittagong City Committee of BNP Abul Hashem Bakkar, vice president Abu Sufian, Advocate Kofil Uddin Chowdhury, Dr Khurshid Jamil, journalist Zahidul Karim Kochi, Engineer Kaji Sufian, Advocate Mofijul Haque Bhuiyan, Engineer Jane Alam Selim and Dr Mohammed Isha addressed the function as special guests.
