Son Mahadi J Akib (21) is in ICU of Chattogram Medical College Hospital , fighting to save his life. Father Golam Farooq Majumder waiting outside the ICU to listen the voice of the son..The boy Mahadi came to be a doctor and is now taking treatment himself. Mahadi is the student of second year MBBS course under Chattogram Medical College . In a tearful voice, Golam Farooq Majumder told The New Nation that he had talked to Mahadi the day before the incident. Even then I didn’t know that trouble was going on. My son’s condition is due to politics. I don’t want anyone’s child to have this condition. There is only one prayer to Allah now, that my son may be healed. I’m just sitting ‘when will I hear Son’s call’, Majumder told.
Mahadi is the second of two children of Comilla district school teacher Golam Farooq Majumdar. Golam Farooq said, ‘The boy is very talented. Admitted to Notre Dame College after getting Golden GPA in SSC. He also got GPA-5 in HSC. He wanted to be a doctor, to serve the poors… But today the boy himself is at the crossroads of life and death. I am afraid of the way he was hit in the head, whether his memory is damaged due to this or not. The skull, which was removed for the operation, could be replaced within three months, doctors said.
Doctors said Mahadi regained consciousness. However, it is still under observation in the ICU. Chittagong Medical College Hospital, Professor of Neurosurgery. Noman Khaled Chowdhury told that Mahadi is very healthy. His senses returned .
CMCH Principal Prof. Sahena Akhter told media that Mahadi is better than before. Since he has a head injury, he is not being put to bed right now. Ventilation has been removed but is still in the ICU. He has been given liquid food through a rice tube since yesterday. From today (Monday), the concerned doctors have advised to open the rice tube and give food by mouth.
Last Friday and Saturday there was a clash between two groups of Chhatra League in CMCH unit where three students were injured. Among them Mahadi J Akib’s condition was critical. CMC has been closed indefinite period due to the clash. A five-member investigation committee has been formed. Last Saturday night, the fifth year student of the college, Taufiqur Rahman became the plaintiff and filed a case with the Panchlaish police station mentioning the names of 18 people. Police have arrested two people in the case.
