At least 40 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over establishing supremacy at Patkelbari village in Sadar upazila on Saturday.
M A Hasem Khan, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said there was a long standing enmity between Ful Biswas and Aziz Member of the village over establishing dominance in the area.
The clash ensued following an altercation between the supporters of the two
groups at about 8:00 am. At one stage, the two rival groups, equipped with homemade arms, attacked each other, leaving 40 people injured. Informed, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Critically injured 25 people were admitted to Magura Sadar Hospital while the rest given first aid.
Two separate cases were filed in this connection.
