A student was killed allegedly by his ‘friend’ at a madrasha mess at Gazirdargah of Jhikargachha upazila of Jashore district early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Solaiman Hossain, 13, son of Jakir Hossain of Agrabhulot village in Shahrsha upazila and a class VII student of Gazirdargah Foyzabad
senior madrasha. Police said, Solaiman locked into an altercation with Sumon Hossain, son of Nurunnabi of Meghla village, on Sunday night, over a trifling matter.
At one stage, Sumon hit Solaiman with a stick, leaving him critically injured.
Later, he was taken to Jessore 250-bed hospital where he died around 12:30am, said madrasa teacher Fakhrul Alam.
Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Jhikargachha Police Station, said that they would take action after filing of a case.
