Madrasa student sentenced to death in Barisal

A Barisal court on Wednesday sentenced a madrasa student to death for killing classmate protesting teasing sisters.
Raqibul Islam, second additional district and session judged of Barisal, after examining 12 out of 26 witnesses and other facts announced this verdict.
The convicted accused Mahmud Hasan Hafiz, a student of Digirpar Eatimkhana and Hafezi Madrasa at Kashipur area of the city, remained fugitive during announcing the verdict.
The court also acquitted accused 5 others students of the same madrasa named Nazmul, Sahidul, Zahidul, Maidul and Sulaiman, from charges founding them not guilty.
Advocate Delwar Hussain, special public prosecutor of the court, was on prosecution side, while Advocate Sheikh Md. Tipu Sultan MP, was on defense side.
The prosecution story in brief was convicted Hafiz and his associates’ regularly teased two daughters of Hanif Haoladar, a neighbour of the madrasa.
On December 30, 2006, Hanif Haoladar and his son Al-Amin, a student of the madrasa, went to the institution to protest the teasing.
