Madrasa student held over jihadi comments in Sylhet

Police arrested a madrasa student for posting jihadi (religious uprising) comments on the social networking site from Khasaripara village in Beanibazar upazila early Saturday.
The arrestee was identified as Zahed Ahmed Murad, 20, son of a freedom fighter Siraj Uddin and a student of a local madrasah.
Md Zuber Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Beanibazar Police Station, said Zabed had long been posting jihadi and provocative comments against the state and government.
The cyber crime specialist team brought him under surveillance for his Facebook activities and found him guilty.
Later police conducted a drive at his house early in the morning and arrested him under section 54.
He was sent to a court at noon.
BNP leader held over sabotage
Police arrested Kanaighat pourashava unit BNP general secretary Mizanur Rahman from Kanaighat Bazar in the district on Saturday afternoon on sabotage charges.
Mizanur Rahman was accused in four cases with Kanaighat Police Station, said police.
Md Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of Kanaighat Police Station, said police arrested him from Kanaighat Bazar area around 5pm.
However, Mizanur told reporters that he was on bail in all the four cases.
