A young man was handed over to police after he was allegedly caught red handed by local people while raping a female madrasah student in Keshabpur upazila on Sunday night.
The alleged rapist was identified as Shanto Goldar, 22, son of Abul Bashar Goldar of Agerhati village of the upazila.
Witnesses said, sensing
the screams of the 17-year-old girl at her house, local people rushed in and rescued her on Sunday night.
Later, they handed over the alleged rapist to police.
Keshabpur Police Station officer-in-charge Abdul Wahab said a case was filed in this connection and the alleged rapist was shown arrested in this connection.
