The Khadizatul Kobra (RH) Mohila Qaumi Madrasa of Gournadi upazila under Barisal district on Sunday declared as closed for sine die after two teachers of the institution sent to jail after case lodged in connection torturing a girl student.
Manirul Islam, officer in charge of Gournadi police station, said arrested two female teachers of the madrasa Hafiza Begum and Fatema Aktar Liza sent to jail on Sunday afternoon producing before the court.
They were arrested on Saturday after Renu Begum, mother of the victim Kamrunnahar Sumaiya,8, as complainant lodged a case against four including female superintendent of the madrasa under section 70 of prevention of repression against children in connection of torturing the victim.
They were accused for whipping 160 times and injecting needle under nails of eight-year old madrasa girl Kamrun Nahar Sumaiya suspecting her about stealing Tk 100.
Police operating drives arrested those two and trying to arrest other accused named as Khadiza Aktar, superintendent, Roksana Begum, teacher of the madrsa, their associate Jahidul Islam, founder the madrasa and husband of the superintendent, the OC informed.
Besides police detained five Jahida Begum, mother of the madrasa founder Jahidul Islam, Mainul Islam, his cousin, Imran Haoladar, security guard, Razia Begum, Sheuli Begum, fourth class employees for interrogation when they were engaged in locking the institution and altercation with the complainant of the case on Sunday evening, the OC told.
Pakhi Begum, Saheb Ali, two guardians of the residential girl students of the madrasa, said they informed about closure of the madrsa by the authourity and so came there to return their daughters home. However still the madrasa girls panicked after seeing torture scenes on Sumaiya.
Mentionable Renu Begum, mother of the victim Sumiaya and complainant of the case alleged that Kamal Hossain Bepari, said father of Sumaiya was a Saudi expatriate and three years ago she admitted Sumaiya in that madrasa as a residential student by giving hostel charges of Tk 3000 per month.
On Friday morning Renu Begum informed from a source that female teachers as per order of female superintendent of the madrasa tortured Sumaya giving 160 whips tying scarf on mouth and face and injecting needle under her nail for allegedly stealing Tk. 100 on Thursday night.
Then mother rescuing injured Sumaiya admitted her to Gournadi upazila health complex on Friday morning.
At that time female superintendent of the madrasa acknowledged that Sumaiya was give some punishment at night for her naughtiness to maintain discipline at the madrasa hostel.
Dr. Nihar Ranjan Boidya, medical officer of Gournadi health complex, said physical condition of Sumaiya now out of danger, but she needs psychological counseling for coming out from trauma.
