A madrasa boy was beaten to death allegedly by his teachers at Matarbari Mokdel village in Maheshkhali upazila on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Md Emran, a fourth grader of Fayzul Ulum Madrasa in the area and son of Mohammad Hossain of the village. Soon after the incident, police arrested two persons including a teacher of the madrasa for interrogation, said Sub-inspector Amin of Moheshkhali Police Station.
Victim’s family members said his mother took him to the madrasa in the morning and his teachers beat him with canes indiscriminately for being absent for a week.
