Staff Reporter :Twelve Kathak dancers from Bangladesh will soon go aboard on the journey of their life and will be heading to Germany in the coming days to perform in the newest production of renowned German choreographer Helena Waldmann, titled Made in Bangladesh. The dance production will premiere in the German city of Ludwigshafen on November 26 and then tour through Germany, Switzerland and Luxemburg. This was announced at a press conference jointly organised by Goethe-Institut and Shadhona held at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy recently. The two cultural institutions joined hands to support the production of Made in Bangladesh by award winning German theatre director, set designer and choreographer Helena Waldmann (ecotopia dance productions). In Waldmann’s presence, Judith Mirschberger, the director of Goethe-Institut, and Lubna Marium of Shadhona shared the beginnings of this ambitious project with the attending journalists and talked about their excitement that twelve Kathak dancers from Dhaka have the chance to perform at various prestigious stages in Europe in the upcoming weeks representing Bangladesh and its dance scene. Furthermore, their participation will also allow the young artists to look behind the scenes of an international production and contribute to an international cultural exchange.
