Hard rock production in Maddhyapara Granite Mining Company Ltd (MGMCL) has been remained suspended for 20 days due to mine’s maintenance and overhauling, sources said.
Besides, the mine is also facing shortage of explosives and detonators that may cause delay to rock production. It is mentionable that explosives and detonators are key aliment to extract rock from underground of the mine.
Official said, they suspended the rock production on April 14 for maintenance and overhauling its equipment.
Earlier, on February 24 the mine started its operation under a new contracted company after three months gap. Germania Trest Consortium (GTC) signed the contract with MGMCL, a company of Patrobangla on September 2 last year.
The rock production of MGMCL stopped on November 24 in 2013 as the 308 miners and workers started an indefinite strike implementation of 5-point demands. But all the agitating miners and workers lost their jobs as the contract with outsourcing company ended on December 31 last year.
The miners and workers were employed under an outsourcing company Blue Star.
Later, the GTC recruited fresh manpower and resumed rock production on February 24.
But the mine again suspended its rock production after operating the mine only 49 days for maintenance and overhauling, sources said.
Besides, the authority said they have already started initiative to procure explosives which is a lengthy process from outside the country. Mine sources said that an imitative was taken to procure the explosive and detonators from neighbouring country India as early as possible.
It its expecting that a consignment of explosive and detonators will be arrived at the mine area within this months, official sources said.
