Mad dog bites five in Noakhali

Five persons including an aged man and four children were injured as a mad dog bit them at Gabua area under Eklashpur union in Begumganj upazila of the district on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The injured are: Abdus Sobhan, 55, son of Rezaul Haque, Umme Hafza, 3, daughter of Jamal Uddin Masud, Mobarak, 10, and Shamim, 8, another unidentified of Gabua area in the union.
Jamal Uddin Masud and locals said, on Tuesday evening, a mad dog bit and injured two passersby. On Wednesday about 8am, the dog again bit Abdus Sobhan, Hafza, and Mobarak and they were injured. They were rescued and admitted to Noakhali Medical College Hospital and other clinics for treatment.
Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Dr Farid Uddin Chowdhury said, “We administered rabies vaccines to the injured. But there is scarcity of sufficient vaccines here. One month before, there were 132 vaccines in the hospital but till Wednesday these got finished.”
Khalilur Rahman, chairman of Eklashpur union parishad said the administration is trying to trace and kill the mad dog.
