A machete used to kill Rifat Sharif was recovered from a ditch near Barguna Government College on Monday.
Based on information of arrested accused Rifat Farazi, police along with Farazi went to the spot and recovered the machete from the ditch around 9.35am, said Barguna Sadar Police Station Inspector Md Humayun Kabir, also the Investigation Officer (IO) of Rifat murder case.
However, police in a drive, arrested another suspect Arian Shrabon around 4.30am on Monday, added the police official.
A district court placed Arian on five days’ remand in the afternoon.
So far, a total of 12 people have been arrested over the murder. The key accused Sabbir Ahmed alias Nayon Bond was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Baguna Sadar upazila on July 2.
Earlier, Rifat Sharif, 22, was hacked to death by criminals in front of his wife Ayesha Siddika Minni in broad daylight in the district town on June 26. The incident was caught on surveillance camera.
