Macedonia’s forex earnings from tourism up 26.5 pc in Q1

Tourism in Macedonia registered a year-on-year increase of 26.5 percent in foreign exchange earnings in the first quarter of 2018, latest official data revealed.
According to Ljupco Janevski, Director of Tourism Promotion Agency, it is expected that the foreign exchange earnings will be around 24 billion Macedonian Denars (445 million U.S. dollars) and about 1.2 million tourists will visit Macedonia in 2018.
Janevski said there is an interest to inaugurate direct Bucharest-Ohrid flights and to provide five-day or ten-day travel visas for Chinese tourists for whom the region is a popular destination.
Moreover, Janevski said that the agency has prepared a Macedonian Tourists passport brochure and a mobile app that contains information about the tourist potentials in Macedonia.
