Bangladeshi promising lifter Mabia Akhter Simanta clinched the bronze medal in the 63-kg weight category of the Asian Youth & Junior Weightlifting Championship held at the Al Saad Sports Club Complex in Doha, Qatar on Sunday.
She lifted 158 kgs to win the bronze medal among nine competitors of the event.
Rodkingthdatat of Thailand won the event’s gold medal lifting 177 kgs while Ishi Miku of Japan secured the event’s silver lifting 176 kgs.
Earlier, two Bangladeshi lifters –Mollah Sabira and Zohora Akhter Reshma– won silver medals in the 2nd International Cup Weightlifting and 17th Asian Youth Weightlifting respectively at the same venue.
Zohora Akhter Reshma won the silver medal in the 44-kg weight category of the 17th Asian Youth lifting 116 kgs on Thursday: Mohini of India clinched the event’s gold lifting 131 kgs while Al-Saidi Nazah of Iraq took the bronze medal with 102 kgs.
In the 2nd International Cup Weightlifting at the same venue on Wednesday, Bangladesh ace lifter Mollah Sabira Sultana clinched the silver medal in the 53-kg weight categories lifting 140 kgs.
Rebeka Koha of Latvia won the event’s gold lifting 160 kgs while Dajana Dankubia of Bosnia earned the bronze lifting 135 kgs.
