MA Hashem, former lawmaker of BNP and also chairman of partex Group, has resigned from politics saying that political activities were hindering his social activities. Hashem, who joined the party before the 2001 national polls and was elected a lawmaker from Noakhali, in a letter on Monday to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, said he has “realised” politics is not the only way “to serve the country and its people.”
“So, I decided that I will not get involved in politics. In such a situation, I resigned from the BNP’s primary membership post.”
