Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that child lifting is totally a rumour. “If anyone participates in a killing incident, we will surely bring them to book.”
“He or she will be punished as per law,” the minister told a press briefing at the Secretariat on Tuesday organized in the wake of lynching incidents that killed some people countrywide on suspicion of child abduction.
He said, “If a hundred people stage a murder, then punishment is all the same.”
Kamal urged everyone not to take up the laws in their own hands. “If suspicion arises, hand over him or her to law enforcement agencies, or call at 999 number, or inform local authorities,” he said.
“Some people have fallen victims to these incidents. We’re not sitting idle. We’re going to take legal action after verifying all incidents through video footages,” he said
So far, 81 persons have been arrested, he said, adding “We’ll arrest more.”
