Kyle Verrynne and Marco Jansen replace Gihahn Cloete and Wiaan Mulder in the South Africa (SA) A one-day squad that will tour India from August 25 to September 21, Cricket South Africa announced on Wednesday (August 21). While Cloete was ruled out with injury, Mulder is still recovering from an injury that rules him out of the one-day series, but he is likely to be fit in time for the four-day series.
There were some forced changes that had to be made to the four-day squad too. Anrich Nortje, Beuran Hendricks and Temba Bavuma’s selection in the South African national team for the India Tests meant Jansen, Lungi Ngidi and Theunis de Bruyn were roped in as their respective replacements. Although, de Bruyn will only be available for the second four-day game.
In addition, an injury to Rudi Second while training, has given uncapped Heinrich Klaasen an opportunity. Klaasen is yet to make his Test debut, but has featured in 14 ODIs and nine T20Is for South Africa. Klassen was already named in the one-day squad, and now will find a place for the four-day games as well.
