LTU realizes Tk 1,056cr arrear tax in FY21

The Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU) under the National Board of Revenue (NBR) realized Taka 1,056 crore as arrear income tax in the last fiscal year (FY21) despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
This collection of arrear income tax in the last fiscal year was 55 percent higher than the collected arrear income tax in the previous fiscal year (FY20) side by side some 14 cases under the LTU have been sent to Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) for speedy resolve of those.
Taking to BSS, LTU Commissioner Ikbal Hossain said, “The trade and commerce in the country was a bit sloth during the pandemic. Considering that no business firm was given additional pressure to pay tax. Rather, various motivational programmes were undertaken to pay tax and we’ve got enough response,”.
He also thanked the taxpayers to deposit tax to the state coffer despite the pandemic situation.
According to LTU, the arrear income tax collected by LTU in FY20 was Taka 627 crore.
In the last fiscal year, the LTU realized income tax of Taka 24,138 crore against the target of Taka 24,000 crore. This collection of income tax was also 16 percent higher than the previous fiscal year (FY20).
