BSS, Dhaka :
Australia’s ace spinner Nathan Lyon said they are preparing well and looking forward to the challenge that given by the Tigers’ all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.
“We are preparing well and looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead … We are going to compete and hopefully walk away with a series win,” Lyon said at a press conference held on Friday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur.
The off-spinner said this while asking to comment on Shakib Al Hasan’s statement earlier about Bangladesh spinners being better than Australia at least on home ground.
Nathan said they are just going to have to wait and see. Both spinning teams haven’t come up against each other so it’s a big and big statement to come out and say that, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. The Australian off-spinner suggested that there is no pressure on him or anyone else in the squad to perform and said that his side needs to do the basics well.
He said they would go to play cricket with a smile on their face and compete hard against Bangladesh as it is good side, especially here at home they know how to play cricket.
Replying to a question he firmly expressed his high hope by saying that “We are going to compete and hopefully walk away with a series win.”
Challenge has been well and truly accepted by the Aussies as the series begins to come alive even before the first ball has been bowled.
The challenge now for Australia is to execute plans for longer periods and bring home a rare series win in the sub-continent.
Australia got a full main training session in on Friday, ahead of Sunday’s first Test start, however, the threat of Bangladesh’s monsoon season is ever present.
