The third convocation of the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) will be held on March 14 (Monday).
President of the country and Chancellor of the university Abdul Hamid is expected to preside over the convocation to be held at CUET central ground at 2.30pm. Former adviser to the caretaker government and Vice-Chancellor of Asia Pacific University ProfessorDr. Jamilur Reza Chowdhury will address the convocation as the convocation speaker and University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan will attend as special guest.
Prof Dr Mohammad Moshiul Hoque, president of the Information and Publicity Sub-Committee of CUET 3rd Convocation -2016, disclosed this at a press conference at Chittagong Press Club yesterday afternoon.
Prof Dr Moshiul said a total of 1603 students are expected to collect their certificates on successful completion of their studies at the university on the convocation day.
Among the convokes, 1564 are graduates, 32 are Masters, four are post graduate diploma and three are PhD degree holders, he added.
The convocation would begin with a colourful rally and would be followed by a reunion programme of the former graduates.
 CUET campus sources said the university authority has completed all preparations to hold the convocation, the biggest programme to confer degrees, in a befitting manner.
Steps have also been taken for ensuring security on the campus. Additional number of law-enforcing members has been deployed at different points covering the programme venue.
